Children's Theatre
We will be performing on June the 25th
The play we are trying to devise will be based on the book Goodnight Stories For Rebel girls by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo, this story is about 100 stories about important women such as painters, tennis players, engineers etc.It creates good role models for younger girls/children, while also showing that anyone can be who they want to be no matter the gender, race, ethnicity etc.
Initial Thoughts:
- Create a playground in the space for the audience and cast members
- We can get the audience to create art, get them to paint with us therefore adding some audience interactivity
- We can show a variety of artists across the world
- because the book is all true stories, we can find the truth and meaning in them
- At the end the book says a little girl should feel empowered and we should teach younger boys the same
- We want to empower people in the audience
- start off with a fake idea/story for example a princess than destroy it (Prince and Princess)
- The children could colour something throughout the show so that way they have created art in the show
- Have actors playing the important women and allow the children to interact with each of the women
- We can maybe also find men who have broken the gender stereotype, and include them as well so it shows equality
